Sensitization
Teacher enters into the class with a smile and wish the students. Then teacher checks their previous knowledge and plays a video clip of magnetic train in class and introduce the topic.
Grouping strategy
Teacher divides whole class into 6 groups for discussions and activities.
Learning activity 1
Teacher exhibits an image and asks students to observe it and list out the uses of magnets.
Points to be found out
In magnetic compass, toy car, refrigerator door, magnetic tapes, speakers, magnetic trains…

Learning activity 2
Teacher exhibits pictures of different types of magnets and asks students to observe it and name the magnets on the basis of their shapes.
Points to be found out
Magnets are classified as bar magnet, magnetic needle, U magnet, ring magnet, disc magnet … on the basis of their shape

Learning activity 3

Teacher exhibits a video of an experiment and ask students to done the same experiment in groups using a bar magnet. Then asks them to record their findings in science diary.
Consolidation of ideas
If a magnet is arranged in such a way that it can move freely it will align itself in north south direction of the earth. That is magnets possess directional property. The end pointing towards north is north pole (N) and the other end is south pole (S).
Learning activity 4:
Teacher exhibits a video of an experiment and explained the procedure. Then ask students to done the same experiment and write down the observations in science diary.
